Whether you choose to fly or drive to Mount Desert Island, you'll want to follow Route 3 South onto Mount Desert Island.

 

After you cross over the Trenton Bridge toward the Island, the road splits at a traffic light. Bear RIGHT, following Route 102 South. Continue on Route 102 until you reach your next traffic light, where you will turn LEFT onto Route 198/Route 3. Continue STRAIGHT toward Northeast Harbor. Just before you reach the town, you pass a large stone carriage house on the left. After the carriage house, you will descend down a hill. At the bottom of the hill, turn LEFT onto Route 3, toward Bar Harbor. The Asticou Inn is just 2/10 of a mile up on your right. We'll be waiting for you! Travel by Air

Mount Desert Island is most closely accessed by the Bar Harbor Airport, located in Trenton, Maine, which is serviced by US Airways via Boston. Hertz (year-round) and Enterprise (seasonal) car rentals are available. From late June to Labor Day, the airport is also serviced by the free Island Explorer bus – please check the schedule.

 

The second closest airport, Bangor International, is serviced by Allegiant, Continental, Delta, Northwest, and US Airways. All major car rental agencies are at Bangor airport.
